Mason Owens is a songwriter and multi-instrumentalist from the L13 area of North Liverpool. He cites artists as varied as John Martyn, Shack, Sublime, Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd, Tenacious D, Johnny Cash and The Beatles amongst those who have influenced his music. These influences can be heard in both his song writing and guitar playing, in which he possesses a technical ability far beyond his twenty-one years. His songs are steeped in regional character and are often about past experiences such as his time spent in HMP Elmley, where a large body of his work to date was written. He has been playing guitar and writing music since his early teens, as well as playing bass in several bands including Rats and Eva and the Primeras, but has only been performing as a solo artist since November 2018 with his first ever gig being to fellow inmates in HMP Elmley.
